The general purpose of the Federation is to further the welfare of the Jewish community in Columbia, South Carolina, and throughout the world.

The specific purposes of this corporation are the following:

  1. To conduct annual fund-raising campaign(s) whose proceeds shall be used for the operating, special purpose, and capital needs of the Jewish institutions in Columbia, South Carolina, and throughout the world.
  1. To allocate and budget all fund-raising proceeds according to the needs of local, national, and overseas institutions that meet the general purpose of the Columbia Jewish Federation.
  1. To plan and direct services and programs in the areas of endowment development, community relations, leadership development, public relations, communication, community development, and the relationship with the private and public institutions in the general community.

The purposes for which the corporation is organized are charitable, religious, and educational within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
