The Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina (AFC) is the official partner of the Anne Frank House for the United States and Canada. Their transformational programs across South Carolina and beyond prepare generations to remember Anne Frank and the Holocaust, understand the threats of antisemitism and act for peace and justice.
On Monday, February 9, 2026, The Anne Frank Center will host the second Anne Frank Awards. This event will bring together guests from across the state to celebrate individuals who embody the spirit of Anne Frank and to support the Center's mission. All funds raised will directly support AFC’s educational programs in schools across South Carolina, particularly in under-resourced communities, making impactful Holocaust education more accessible.
The Center is proud to announce that five members of the Columbia Jewish community will be honored at the awards. This year’s honorees include Frank Baker, acclaimed author and educator recognized for his lasting contributions to Holocaust education and media literacy; Eleanor Streisfeld, recipient of the Young Artist Award for Middle School, whose creative work powerfully reflects the values of remembrance and moral courage; Lucy Westfall, named Young Artist Award runner-up for her exceptional artistic achievement; and Ethan and Liam Shure, who will be recognized as Students of the Year for their outstanding leadership and commitment to learning and civic responsibility. Together, these honorees exemplify the enduring relevance of Anne Frank’s legacy. The Center warmly invites the community to join us for this special evening to celebrate their achievements and support the continued expansion of transformative Holocaust education across South Carolina.
